We humbly invite you to contribute generously to our Seminary Fund. When you make a donation, you are contributing mainly to the TOR Franciscan Seminary Fund and your financial donations will be directed towards the expenses of the seminary training of our seminarians.

Duration of TOR Franciscan Seminary Training

Minor Seminary – 4-5 years (Candidacy/Ordinary Level & Advanced Level)
Pre-Novitiate – 1 year (Postulancy)
Novitiate - 1 year (Period of intensive spiritual and religious formation)
Philosophy - 3 years (Obtaining Bachelor of Philosophy & religious Formation)
Regency - 1 year (Period of practical training and ministry)
Theology - 4 years (Obtaining Bachelor of Theology & priestly Formation)

Please note: The duration may further increase if the seminarian is selected for some special studies during the period of formation. Example; selection to government universities.

Average cost for one seminarian

Per a Month

We are to spend Sri Lankan Rs. 25,000.00 to cover the monthly expenses on priestly and religious formation of one seminarian. Approximately; US $ 75.00

Per a Year

We are in need of more than Sri Lankan Rs. 300,000.00 to cover the expenses of one seminarian. Approximately; US $ 900.00

With this amount we are trying to cover the expenses on board & lodging, stationary, travelling, personal expenses, tuition fees, seminars etc.

The medical and the expenses on maintenance of the seminary are to be spent extra.

Present Situation

As demands grow, so do the costs. Today, more than ever, we need your continued prayers and your financial support to continue God's work. We have our limited resources and it is far beyond our demands for the formation of future priests due to the increasing number of vocations to the priesthood of the Province of Our Lady of Lanka, Sri Lanka.

The expenses for the seminarians would usually increase by 10-15% year by year, because of the inflation prevailing in the country.

Therefore, your support and financial assistance will be a strong reassurance for us, a concrete sign of the Lord's blessings on all that we strive to accomplish on behalf of His Church and the work of the Gospel.

Spiritual benefits you get by donating

Seminarians will be daily praying for you and your dear ones.
In each Franciscan Fraternity, a Holy Mass is of fered for the benefactors every Saturday.
All priests of the Congregation of fer a special Mass every year for the benefactors.
